Tonight I stepped into the changing room after my second round and was taken aback by this neatly organized row of coats and cubbies. Taken aback because I sometimes feel like a broken record reminding people to “utilize the cubbie technology.” What I don’t explain (but probably should) is that there’s a method to the madness. Keeping the changing room tidy and welcoming encourages extra time between rounds, and I believe there’s a direct correlation between the duration/quality of the cool-down to the overall level/effect of the sauna experience. The times I make a conscious effort to slowly and thoroughly cool down between rounds are the times I notice that I sleep better and wake up still feeling the relaxing effects of the sauna. Use the cubbies, you’ll be glad you did!
