Sanctuary Sauna
Mr. Vernon’s mission to “ create a deeply meaningful experience of togetherness and expression” can be experienced with the addition of an authentic sauna functioning art installation as part of Eaux Claires 2016.
The Finnish sauna is deeply rooted in Upper Midwest culture. Many of us grew up with saunas at our cabins or country cottages. As people are taking stock of their own well being, through yoga, meditation, etc. sauna has become quite a cool way to advance health, wellness, and mindfulness. It makes sense that artists and guests are met with sauna at Eaux Claires, vs. any other music festival or gathering.
Sauna is also a celebration of nature. Whether we place the sauna along a tree lined path, or along the riverfront for cool downs, or near artists’ facilities, those experiencing the sauna will be reminded of the beautiful Chippewa Valley region. Or perhaps reminded of chilling out at a lake cabin. We create this vibe. And we can do it at Eaux Claires.
ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE:
Saunatimes founder has built a dozen saunas and adheres to stringent Finnish building standards and craftsmanship.

We take pride in using only high grade t&g cedar and quality materials.

Sauna building affords artistic treatments, including funky cool benches, ergonomic backrests, etc.

We have built and hosted other saunas and public events. Many sites at Eaux Claires are awesome. Riverside or backstage come to mind as most appealing.
INNOVATIVE SITE COLLABORATION
We look forward to walking grounds with staff and identifying the coolest location for sauna. Further, we can harmonize well with other installations.
VIEWED AND EXPERIENCED DAY AND NIGHT
Sauna works in daylight and as the sun sets, and soft light glows off the cedar walls, the sauna building takes on a compelling, inviting vibe carried through the night.
INSTALLED OUTDOORS, WITHSTANDING FORCES OF NATURE
Every saunatimes sauna is high quality with premium craftsmanship and able to withstand all forces of nature. Saunatimes founder’s sauna is 21 years old facing elements on Lake Vermilion, MN. Please come view and experience any number of saunas that I have built.
HIGH VOLUME OF TRAFFIC
We have hosted saunas at polar plunges and cross country ski festivals, hundreds coming and going.
BUDGET
$10k but let’s not get throttled by this. We are happy to explain how we can make this less and create more.
TIMELINE: INSTALLATION & DE-INSTALLATION
We show up when you want, we independently place sauna (via motorized vehicle). When show’s over, we return with vehicle and haul sauna away. As long as it’s not too muddy, you won’t see any trace or tracks.

Backstage or along the Chippewa River. Your call.
TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS
None
POWER REQUIREMENTS
None. We are self sufficient. Small battery for 12v lights. Stove is wood burning and UL Approved.
MATERIALS INVOLVED
Only the best construction materials including beautiful sustainable cedar.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Sauna is safe. We have trained saunameister helping and advising. Guard protecting stove from patrons.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (SPECIFIC LIGHTING)
None. We have awesome chill out lighting vibe.
RECYCLING AND DISPOSAL AFTER DE-INSTALLATION
None.
BONUS:
After festival, we will clean and overhaul sauna to be “brand new” and we can deliver to Mr. Vernon’s house or cabin. You guys own this sauna, and it’s going to be a kick ass sauna.
