The 612 Sauna Society Cooperative is a member-owned co-op enjoying and sharing a transformative Sauna experience with the Twin Cities community.
This position will report to the Co-op Manager and closely collaborate with other co-op members, volunteers, and the project partner to execute this season’s objective of offering benchtime at the Loppet Foundation Trailhead center.
Job Responsibilities
Sauna hosts will work in collaboration with a team of 2 – 4 other hosts to ensure an optimal guest experience at The Forge mobile sauna. Specific responsibilities include:
- Being on-time for shifts to ensure the sauna is ready for guests
- Setting up and closing down the outdoor space (often/usually in the cold)
- Building and managing the fire in the wood burning sauna stove
- Welcoming guests
- Managing guest check-in
- Ensuring a comfortable and safe guest environment
- Cleaning sauna and changing room
- Keeping the sauna and outdoor spaces tidy and clean at all times
- Community and user engagement
- Monitoring and sourcing physical maintenance and improvements to the sauna unit
Qualities and Fit
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, empathetic, perceptive, enthusiastic, and passionate about the work. Do you enjoy taking care of things and making them as great as they can be? Do you enjoy curating an experience? Does the idea of incorporating design, communications, user engagement, and site management into the practice of event hosting and planning excite you? Then you’ll fit right in!
Qualities we are looking for include:
- Available for 1 or 2 shift per week. (Shifts will be 4 – 8 hours).
- Able and interested in working outside (often/usually in the cold) for extended periods of time (you will be moving throughout the sauna, outdoor and inside building spaces throughout your shift)
- Ability to chop wood and lift up to 50 lbs
- Perceptive, proactive and self-aware. Alert but able to pull it off in a way that helps others relax and enjoy their experience.
- Welcoming and communicative
- Cares about and enjoys working with and for all types of people
- Proactively finds solutions whenever obstacles occur
- Self-starter; intrinsically motivated to make things happen

Experience and Skills
We are looking for people who have:
- Hosting experience
- Knowledge, or interest in learning, about the health benefits, history and culture of Sweat Bathing practices such as Sauna
- Worked with a high degree of independence within a small and/or start-up organization
- Overcome obstacles to accomplish things that they believe in
- Experience executing events and driving attendance to said events
- Ideal applicants will have some combination of the following experience and skills:
- Experience in the service industry
- Site management experience
- Multilingual, but fluent in English
Compensation
Part-time, $15/hour
Timing
